Community Relations: Requests for Information (505)

All requests for specific information regarding the school division, including requests under the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), shall be directed to the Superintendent or his/her designee for prompt and courteous replies. Responses to such requests shall be made, taking into consideration FOIA requirements, availability of the information, staff time required to complete the requests and student/staff confidentiality requirements. The Superintendent may develop regulations to ensure the orderly processing of requests for information.

Unless precluded by statute or federal or state regulation, whenever such a request asks for sensitive information including the name(s) or position(s) of school employee(s), the employee(s) shall be notified of the individual, group or organization to whom the information is released and the nature or content of the information released.
